Daniel is 'Over the Moon' this week after hearing that his latest Irish album 'Moon Over Ireland' has moved up two places in the UK to No.9 and is No.11 in the Irish Charts.
In September Daniel released a 4 track cd single called 'Tipperary Girl'. Written by the renowned and highly respected Irish singer/songwriter, Billy O'Dwyer, the 'Feel Good Factor' of this song, with it's delightfully insistent rhythm, and highly infectious chorus, is guaranteed to hold wide appeal as it defies the so-called generation gap by captivating listeners of all ages. It will be difficult for anyone to resist tapping their feet or singing along to the highly contagious melody and catchy lyrics. 'Tipperary Girl' is the title track of a 4 song EP, the remaining three songs being the previous unreleased 'My Lovely Donegal', 'Red Is The Rose' and 'I'll Remember You Love In My Prayers'.
This year Daniel celebrates his 30th anniversary in the music business and to mark this special milestone he is releasing 'The Ultimate Collection'. This is a 40 track album featuring 10 new songs and 30 songs which reflect many aspects of his career, past and present. The album features among others his first single “My Donegal Shore”, which has been re-recorded for this collection, “I Just Want To Dance With You”, his top 30 hit and first ever Top of the Pops appearance, some of his most popular country, Irish and inspirational songs and a few of his self-penned songs including the popular “Beyond The Rainbows End”.
Daniel says that this album has given him the opportunity, to indulge a little, by recording songs that he really wanted to record, including a number of originals.
”It was on the 28th January 1981 in a place called the Ragg in Thurles, Co Tipperary that I first stepped on stage with my sister Margaret and her band. I can hardly believe that it's 30 years since I began this wonderful journey. On a personal level this is also a special year as I cerebrate my 50th birthday on the 12th December. This album has been put together to recognise both landmarks in my life. 30 of the tracks are songs that I have previously released since I started recording back in 1983. I picked the songs that I felt were the ones that you made successful for me going right back to my very first recording "My Donegal Shore" Through the years when picking songs to record my simple criteria was to sing songs that I loved. There are also 10 newly recorded songs on this album that I love to sing and I hope you will enjoy too. I want to thank you for making the last 30 years so successful for me and I hope we will enjoy many more years of music together.
This album certainly lives up to its title “The Ultimate Collection”, and we hope that you will enjoy this special 30th Anniversary Collection. Daniel will be promoting the album in the UK and Ireland around the time of release
Daniel went straight into the National UK Album Charts at No 7, with his new album 'The Ultimate Collection'.

DANIEL CANCELS 50TH BIRTHDAY BASH TO EASE PRESSURE ON FANS
After much deliberation and with much regret, Daniel and his management have decided to cancel the show planned for the O2, Dublin in October. Daniel realised, from recent interaction he had with fans, that his loyal followers were struggling to cope with the effects of the worst recession in living memory. "The recession has hit everybody, I don't think there is anybody who hasn't been hurt by it. I've had letters for people saying how hard it is for them and they tell me they have to miss a show here and a show there as a result" Daniel reveals. He knew that because the 50th Birthday concert was to be a special event, that fans would go through hell & high water to get to it and he felt that it was unfair to put them to that expense. It's not just the price of the tickets, for the majority of fans who would want to attend the event, there would be transport and accommodation costs to be taken into account as well. Daniel is already committed to doing his summer tour of ireland in July, which, he hopes, will prove a better alternative for his fans.
