Kristian House G.B.
Ciaran Power Tipperary
Tests for the use of prohibited substances carried out during the recent FBD Insurance RÁS 8 Day International Cycle Race have all been declared negative. The thirty-two anti-doping tests carried out by the world controlling body, Union Cycliste Internationale, involved riders from most of the nine countries that competed in the race. Stage winners, race leaders on the day and riders selected at random were tested.

Professional teams from Norway, Poland, Australia, Germany, Britain, Canada, USA and Belgium/Ireland participated with the Irish national team, British regional and Irish county teams.

Morton Hegerberg Norway
Bartomiej Marsiak Poland
Announcing the results Race Organiser, Dermot Dignam, complimented the riders for a keenly contested, sporting race.

The race is sponsored by FBD Insurance and is included on the Union Cycliste Internationale Continental Calendar.

The 2007 FBD Insurance RÁS race will take place from 20th to 27th May. More>>

Behind The Scenes At The FBD Insurance Rás
Running the FBD Insurance RÁS each year is a huge task, a test of organisation, careful planning and the cooperation of all the personnel involved with the race. Since the early 1970s Dermot Dignam has been directly involved in this role, working initially on a committee running the race and then taking over as sole race director in 1979. More>>

Double Champion Power Back For FBD Insurance Rás
Ciaran Power
The line-up of this year’s FBD Insurance RÁS has been further boosted by the confirmation that double winner Ciarán Power will take part in this year’s race, which starts in just over two week’s time.
After winning overall in 1998 and 2002, Power last competed in the FBD Insurance RÁS three years ago when he won stages into Ballina and Oldcastle and finished second in the points classification.
Since then he has missed the race due to commitments with his professional Navigators team, but will return this year as part of his build-up to full fitness after an operation earlier this season. In recent years Power, who was a superb 13th in the Olympic road race in Athens, had been increasingly affected by a blood flow obstruction that led to numbness and a loss of power in one of his legs. That problem has now been successfully treated and he is raring to go. More>>
